Business DSL:
Reliable and dedicated end-to-end network access solution

What is it?

Business DSL is a broadband service designed to provide you with a reliable and dedicated end-to-end network access service, supported by extensive network coverage.

Business DSL is a product engineered by Telstra as part of its wholesale offering to its resellers. As a wholesale partner of Telstra, AlchemyIT are qualified to work with medium to large corporations to provide them with Business DSL.

What does it do?

Business DSL provides a symmetrical data access service. Each individual service involves the provision of a DSL access (End User Access) with a speed ranging from 256kbit/s to 2mbit/s and a dedicated PVC.

Business DSL is thus ideal for the provision of carriage services such as:

  • IP WANs and VPNs
  • Internet access services, and
  • Voice

How does it work?

For each Business DSL End User, Telstra installs and manages a Network terminating Unit (NTU) and the end user’s location. The NTU supports a 10/100 Ethernet interface and is physically connected to a Business Access Unit (BAU) in the local Telstra exchange via Telstra’s copper infrastructure.

The NTU converts your data to ATM-over-SHDSL-traffic for transport of over the copper infrastructure. At the local exchange, the copper infrastructure terminates on the BAU and the traffic is then carried over Telstra’s Switched Data Network (SDN) via a dedicated PVC.

The PVC is then either terminated as a dedicated Internet service, or as another individual service.

Features

  • Extensive network coverage (Telstra has over 1500 Business DSL enabled exchanges) for superior and seamless network connectivity.
  • Symmetric bandwidth options ranging from 256kbit/s to 2mbit/s, designed to provide the flexibility and reliability for the most demanding needs.
  • One-to-one contention ratio for traffic across each End User Access, providing dedicated access for business applications.
  • End-to-end provisioning of serves (including Network Terminating Units for end users) reducing potential inter-working issues.
  • 10/100 Ethernet interface for NTUs enabling simpler and low cost connectivity options for customers.
  • Leading edge Global operations Centre monitoring the services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year with some of the world’s most sophisticated management and operational systems.

What are the benefits?

Unlike typical internet-grade DSL services where there is no guarantee of bandwidth due to the sharing between customers of a contention-based platform, Business DSL uses an ATM core and provides dedicated PVC bandwidth to each and every location.

Business DSL is built around Telstra’s SDN and DDN platforms. These platforms have a long record of very high reliability and provide the assurance that business customers require.

Business DSL offers flexible configuration choices, bandwidth choices and simple integration that can be tailored to suit the your business needs.

Business DSL is simple for you to deploy and manage – point-to-point connections mean no authentication, there is no interaction with the ADSL network and your physical interface is standard Ethernet.

A 24 x 7 Global Operations Centre monitors your service around the clock to minimise any disruptions. The Global Operations Centre gives you the added security required for critical business services.
